Getting Organized

Categories: My Neighborhood Storage Center

Spring is here and summer is right around the corner. While everyone can appreciate the great weather it’s also a time when most people have an overwhelming need to declutter and organize their wardrobe or closets. The job can sometimes seem daunting but it doesn’t have to be. Start with the little things first, like putting away clothing or items that you haven’t worn or used in over a year. Why not get paid for your cleaning efforts by having a garage sale. You can even do some good by donating items that someone else might find useful. As for the things that you really need but simply don’t have enough room for, renting a small self-storage unit is always a good option to create more space while still having the access you need to your stuff.

Decide what’s most important and arrange your “to-do” list accordingly. Before starting, you might consider getting some clear plastic containers and space saver bags along with bins for storing items. For those of you with smaller living spaces it’s always best to invest in furniture that can serve dual purposes like an ottoman that doubles as storage for extra pillows and throws.

You don’t have to do it alone. Anything becomes fun, even cleaning, with good food and music. Feel daring enough to change the color on your walls? Why not throw a painting party and invite your friends over to help. The most important thing is to simply start. Once you get going you’ll quickly realize that decluttering can be fun and it will help you to appreciate the space you have once more.
